AP Minister booked for thrashing private executive

Hyderabad, October 17: The Tukaramgate Police here today booked a case under the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Andhra Pradesh Labour Minister Danam Nagender on charges of thrashing one person along with his supporters in Secunderabad here. Following a complaint lodged by one Shravan Kumar, a private executive who accused the minister and his supporters of beating him up, police registered a case against Danam Nagender under relevant sections of SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities Act), a senior police officer said.

The minister’s associates, numbering around 20, were booked under section 324 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) of the Indian Penal Code, the officer said. Danam Nagender along with his associates are accused of beating up Shravan Kumar, with sticks for reportedly throwing eggs on the minister’s vehicle while he was on his way to inaugurate a clinic at Addagutta in Secunderabad area, police said. “We have to examine the video footage of the incident and verify if the minister was involved in beating up the person,” they added. Following the incident Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) activists staged a demonstration in front of the Tukaramgate Police demanding booking of a case against Danam Nagender and his associates.
