AP may soon have an NCC Nagar

Hyderabad, November 21: Andhra Pradesh may soon have a National Cadets Corps (NCC) Nagar on the city outskirts where the cadets will be imparted training. ”The state government is willing to provide land for the proposed NCC Nagar,” director general of AP NCC AS Bahal said. Presently, the AP NCC imparts training to the cadets at their schools and colleges and also at the respective training units of Air force, Army and Navy.

Speaking at a press conference in connection with 62nd NCC Day, Bahal said that there was a significant increase in enrolled girl cadets with the AP NCC standing second in strength of girl cadets all over the country currently.

”We plan to encourage the enrollment of girl cadets to 33 per cent by next year,” he added.

“With AP NCC covering 975 schools and colleges and having a total strength of around 1,30,000, the strength of girl cadets has increased from 24 per cent to 28 per cent. In the coming years, we aim to increase it to 50 per cent and thus making the participation of girls and boys equal.” he added.

Earlier today, the cadets took out an impressive salute parade to the director general, where they displayed stunts like horse riding salute, rope malkhamb (traditional gymnastic) and formation flying by two micro lite aircrafts. A cadet of AP NCC, Tejaswani Manogna who was adjudged the best girl cadet at the all India level during the Republic Day parade this year, was given away the award today.
