Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has made allotment of water for industries simpler and faster as per its new industrial water allotment policy, Chief Secretary I Y R Krishna Rao said here today.
The Chief Secretary held a meeting with officials on the issue of allotment of water to industries, a state government release said.
The new water policy being implemented by the government empowered the industrial promotion committees headed by the District Collector at the district level and the Chief Secretary at the state level to make the allotments, it said.
It was noted in the meeting that for a total extent of 2,51,094 acres of industrial area, there is a demand of 29.33 TMC of water and East Godavari (Kakinada), Prakasam (Donakonda), Nellore (Krishnapatnam), Chittoor (Srikalahasthi, Yerpedu, Sri City), Kurnool (Orvakallu) and Ananthapur (Gorantla, Hindupur) districts are the major areas identified for supply of water for industries, it added.
