Andhra Pradesh Government is contemplating to launch Distribution of Energy Efficient Tube Lights program to save 50% to 60% electricity, on payment of Bulk procurement Price of around Rs 250, through kiosks set up across the State. The same tube light is available at Rs 500 to Rs 600 in the open market. This initiative will bring great relief to the electricity bills of the households and commercial establishments.  The program will be launched by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during Energy Conservation Week from December 14 to 20.

The EE measures taken up so far are yielding good results and the households are realizing the fruits of this movement through reduced electricity bills to the extent of Rs 250 – Rs 500 per annum on account of utilization of two LED Bulbs per house. Energy Conservation week has been observed every year during the period  December14th 20th, to create a widespread awareness among all about the significance of enhancing Energy Conservation and Efficiency, in day to day life.

To enhance the promotion of Energy Efficiency in the State, the Govt. has chalked out ambitious plans to involve all the members of the  existing Woman Self Help Groups (SHGs) available to the extent of around 10 Lakhs with a total membership of around 80 Lakhs in the Energy Efficiency campaign. I strongly believe that whatever programme we take up with the cooperation of my Sisters, would yield excellent results. (NSS)
