AP industry asked to take swine flu precautions

Hyderabad, October 01: Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Andhra Pradesh L V Subramanyam has urged the industry to take precautionary measures against H1N1 swine flu and educate the vulnerable groups like the marketing team on the same.

Addressing the gathering at an awareness session on Swine flu -prevention and precaution- organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry, Andhra Pradesh and the state government, he asked the industry to gear up their CSR activities to create awareness among the industry about the deadly virus.

He pointed out that five labs were presently functional to test the N1H1 in Hyderabad – IPM, Bio Serve, CCMB, CDFD and Kaminani Institute of Medical Sciences. Dr K Subhakar, Coordinator, Swine Flu Nodal Centre, Govt. Chest Hospital, Hyderabad, pointed out that the state was the role model for the entire country with regard to swine flu preventive measures.

He also urged the industry to educate themselves and their employers and to use other measures like making better use of teleconferencing, create isolation areas, create deployment plans within the industry.

In her special address, Suchitra Ella, Convenor, CII AP CSR Panel and Joint Managing Director, Bharat Biotech pointed out that no body in the world is in a situation to face the H1N1 level six situation.

In her address, she urged the government to take a fast track approach and especially the regulatory procedures needs to be fast tracked, to bring out the vaccine at the earliest for the public use. Ms Ella also pointed out that Bharat Biotech is one of the three companies is working on developing Vaccine for H1N1 influenza in India.

”Bharat is producing the vaccine in a cell culture based process technology, at its world class cGMP manufacturing facilities located in Genome Valley, Hyderabad”, she said.
