AP has achieved highest growth rate in last five years: YSR

Hyderabad, July 19: Andhra Pradesh has achieved the highest growth rate of economy when compared with the national average in the last five years, state Chief Minister Y S Rajsekhara Reddy has claimed.

While discussing with state Finance Minister K Rosaiah and Principal Secretary, Finance, about the issues to be raised at the 13th Finance Commission meeting scheduled for Monday, Reddy said that Andhra Pradesh has heralded a new chapter in the history of welfare and development sectors by successful implementing of all its pathbreaking programmes without any obstacles, a release from the Chief Miniser’s Office said here today.

Rosaih explained to the Chief Minister that notwithstanding the global economic recession and its impact on the Indian economy, the state government could successfully implement all welfare and development programmes whether it was Jalayagnam (irrigation mission) or Indiramma housing programme or pensions, without any hassles in expenditure.

“In fact, ours is a success story, which can be replicated in the entire country, ” Reddy said. He suggested that the officials showcase the achievements of the state government before the Finance Commission for seeking more assistance, so that similar programmes could be continued with more vigour in the coming years.
