AP Govt to start mobile hospitals : Minister

Tirupati, June 20: Minister Mr Parthasarathy has said that its government is planning to start mobile hospitals in a year or two in the state.

At a review meeting with the district veterinary doctors at a star hotel here yesterday, the Minister said the livestock playing a key role in the countrys growth rate and the state government allocated Rs 600 crore in the budget for the dairy development against Rs 200 crore during the TDP government tenure.

As part of strengthening the veterinary in the state, an International standard veterinary hospital would be set up in Vijayawada with an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore besides starting two veterinary colleges Proddutur ( Kadapa district) and Korutla (Karimnagar district)- with a cost of Rs 150 crore each in the state, the Minister said .

The government is committed to strengthening the dairy industry on a par with the agriculture sector by allocating more funds, he said to meet the demand and be competitive with the private dairies , which are looting the farmers, the government is planning to set up milk centers and own dairy forms in the state.

The Minister gave an assurance that veterinary hospital buildings which are mostly in bad condition, would be renovated besides providing infrastructure to get first place in the milk production from the existing fourth place in the country. Animal Husbandry Director Dr L Mohan said the Chittoor district stood in the second place while Ahmednagar occupied first place in rearing of hybrid cattle and the Chittoor districts annual contribution through the dairy sector is Rs 1150 crore annually against Rs 950 crore from the Agriculture sector.

Earlier, the Minister who arrived here on his maiden visit to the temple town, had darshan of the lord Balaji in Tirumala.
