AP govt should accept resignation of Telangana ministers: TDP

Hyderabad, July 26: The TDP today demanded that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy immediately re-constitute his Council of Ministers by accepting the resignations of 12 ministers from Telangana if the latter were not ready to discharge their official duties.

“Administration in the state has come to a standstill with 12 ministers tendering their resignations. Nobody knows where these ministers are and what they are doing. The Chief Minister too is unsure whether or not his colleagues will return to work. If not, the Chief Minister should accept their resignations and re-constitute the Cabinet,” Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Dadi Veerabhadra Rao demanded.

Addressing a press conference at the TDP headquarters NTR Bhavan here, Rao ridiculed Reddy’s claim that he would ensure a corruption-free administration in the state. “The Chief Minister is talking like a kid. His claim of providing corruption-free governance should be the eighth wonder of the world,” the senior TDP leader remarked.

Rao alleged that as government Chief Whip and later Assembly Speaker, Reddy had supported the then Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy who institutionalised corruption. “The Congress government has ushered in a new ‘corruption culture’ in the state. It is impossible to eradicate corruption as long as the party is in power,” Rao said.
