The Andhra Pradesh Government, which has initiated stringent steps towards achieving desired goals of huge energy savings, decided to make AP as the “incandescent bulb free state”.
The government has also issued orders to replace all the conventional street lights with highly energy efficient LED Lights in all municipalities across the entire state. Simultaneously in tune with the policy of the government, all steps are being taken up to distribute 2 Crore LED bulbs to the 1 Crore households in the entire state by the end of 2015-16 under DELP scheme which is expected to reduce demand by around 500MW in domestic sector alone and reduce the electricity bills.
National level LED manufacturing Industries, CEOs conference is being organised at Hyderabad on 10th March by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) in coordination with SECM, Govt. of AP including Energy and MA&UD Dept., to seek the support of CEOs of the lighting industries to provide most qualitative and efficient LED Bulbs & LED street lights in a cost effective basis and deliberate on the issues and challenges that are associated with implementation of the LEDs schemes on a massive scale.
Disclosing the above details, while reviewing the arrangements for the conference with top officials of power sector, Energy Secretary Ajay Jain said that the Government of AP was very keen to transform AP as the best energy efficient state in world and requested industries to come and invest in the state. Further he has issued directives to expedite execution of all the Energy Efficiency Programmes; maintain quality at global standards for Energy Efficient products; Involve public at large for realizing the savings of energy; Ensure reduction of Electricity Bills of consumers through Energy Efficiency & Energy Conservation (EE&EC) programmes and maintain total transparency during implementation.
The government also issued instructions to the DISCOMs to reduce T&D losses from the present level of 12% to 9% (single digit) by the end of 2015-16. The Conference will be inaugurated by Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) P Narayana and attended by Principal Secretary (MA&UD) A. Giridhar and other officials of DISCOMs and Municipalities. (INN)
