Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu said that the government has plans to set up a Genome valley between Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts to boost the pharmaceutical sector.
The Chief Minister said that the Government of AP will appoint a nodal officer in this regard. A group of pharma experts including Dr. C.R Naidu, J. Venkat, R. Narasimha Raju, Jayant Tagore, Narayana Reddy and others met the Chief Minister at the Lake View Guest House and requested that the AP government provide all the infrastructure facilities required to make AP a pharma hub. Recalling how his government set up a task force in the united AP in 2004, Chandrababu Naidu said that a similar wing will be set up in AP to make the state one of the biggest pharmaceutical hubs in the country. During his regime, the united AP ranked top in the pharmaceutical industry while it dropped to third position in the last 10 years, he said. (INN)
