Rajahmundry, April 12: Andhra Pradesh chief minister K Rosaiah said that the state government is making all efforts to provide clean drinking water to eight crore people of the state.
Speaking after inaugurating Rs5 crore comprehensive Protected Drinking Water Supply scheme at P Gannavaram mandal, Rosaiah said yesterday that the government is making all efforts to provide clean drinking water to all.
He said YS Rajasekhara Reddy, former chief minister had laid the foundation stone for the scheme with an aim to provide drinking water to the people from Central Delta.
This scheme was launched with the finance assistance from 12th Planning Commission, which provided Rs5 crore.
With the launch of this scheme 25 habitations in nine gram panchayats will get drinking water, he said.
P Rajeswari, the local MLA urged the chief minister to release Rs10 crore to provide drinking water in the remaining areas of this assembly segment.
Union defence minister of state MM Pallam Raju, district incharge minister B Satyanarayana, ministers P Subash Chandra Bose, P Viswaroop, APIIC chairman S Sivarama Subramaniam, ZP chairman Srinivasa Venugopal Krishna, attended the progamme.
