Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao informed that the Government of Andhra Pradesh earmarked for supplying of water to area with industrial and other potential in the State.
The Chief Secretary convened a video conference with the District Collectors of Ananthapuramu and Kurnool in the presence of Water Resources (WR) and Industries Departments officials to discuss on the supply of water to the Industries. Uninterrupted water will be provided to the Industries from the rivers and nearby canals throughout the year by the Water Resources Department, the Chief Secretary said.
The Industries Department has prepared detailed project reports for providing water supply to prioritized Industrial Clusters i.e. Orvakallu Cluster in Kurnool District, Yerpedu-Srikalahasthi cluster, Donakonda Cluster, Gorantla-Hindupur Clusters, in the State.
A Preliminary assessment of water requirement for industrial areas has been calculated based on High water intensive industries (viz) Pharmaceutical, Textile; Medium water intensive (viz) Automobile, food / beverages, engineering etc.; Low water intensive are briefed in the meeting.
By earmarking the facilities like infrastructure, uninterrupted electricity and water to the Industries the state of Andhra Pradesh will attract the investors from all over the world in a big way, the Chief Secretary opined.
It was decided to go for water supply for Orvakallu from the foreshore of Srisailam and tenders to be called within two months; for Ananthapuram – Hindupur – Kadiri industrial area water to be supplied from Somasila; for Donkonda industrial area from Velugonda reservoir and for Yerpedu-Srikalahasti industrial area from Kandaleru-Poondi canal. Tenders to be called within two months to take up the works after preparation of Detailed Project Reports, Chief Secretary said.
