AP govt to create more jobs in IT sec; to be given eually

Hyderabad, April 29: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah has said his government will generate more employment opportunities in the Information Technology (IT) industry and make them available to all people on equal basis.

”My aspiration is that, benefits of IT should reach the common man and economically deprived sections of the society, specially those living in the remote areas. Government is developing major cities of the state such as Warangal, Vijayawada, Vizag, Kakinada and Tirupati, to expand the reach of the IT companies to all regions of the state,” he opined.

Presenting the Jawahar Knowledge Centre (JKC) awards here yesterday, the Chief Minister said growth of the IT industry in the state was tremendous as the benefits of this sector play an important role in the socio-economic development.

The JKC programme was started with this idea and in the past few years it has gained a lot of importance. Several thousand students have obtained employment through this programme, he said.

He said 2,51,000 people are employed with high salaries in the IT sector. Creation of one vacancy in IT indirectly creates four jobs in other sectors such as, hospitality, transport and entertainment.

The IT sector is responsible for getting additional employment to 10 lakh people in the state, the Chief Minister observed.

”I am very glad to see that the many major IT companies have partnered with the JKC and provided employment opportunities to the youth of the state”, he added.
