AP govt to come up with new policy on land allotment

Hyderabad, August 06: Andhra Pradesh government is coming up with a new Land Allotment Policy that lays stress on “scientific and judicious allotment” of land for different purposes. A draft paper pertaining to the new policy has been prepared by the state Revenue Department in concert with other departments like Industries, Infrastructure and Information Technology. It was presented to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at a high-level meeting here this evening and would be sent to all political parties in the state for consideration, according to sources in the Chief Minister�s Office. The government would also convene an all-party meeting next fortnight to elicit views of different parties on the new policy, the sources added. The draft policy moots constitution of Andhra Pradesh Land Management Authority to oversee allotment of land for different uses and formulation of a mechanism for enforcing environmental and zonal regulations. It also suggests government�s share-holding pattern in commercial enterprises in the allotted land and earmarking 10 per cent of government land for allocation to different purposes. The new policy also lists a comprehensive rehabilitation and resettlement scheme, the sources added. Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy, Chief Commissioner of Land Administration Pankaj Dwivedi, Principal Secretaries Venkataramani Bhaskar (Finance), Anil Chandra Puneetha (Revenue), Hyderabad district Collector Natarajan Gulzar and other senior officials attended.
