AP Govt appeals to Telangana lawyers to call off stir

Hyderabad, September 15: Andhra Pradesh government today appealed to striking advocates of Telangana region to call off their agitation over 42 per cent reservation in different posts as it was ready to consider their “just” demands.

“We are pro-active and supportive. It is not correct to set deadlines as the Cabinet Sub-Committee needs time to go into details (on appointment of law officers). Just demands will be considered,” state ministers J Geetha Reddy and M Venkatramana told reporters here.

The government had constituted a three-member Cabinet Sub-Committee (with Geetha Reddy, M Venkatramana and Minister for Forests P Ramachandra Reddy as members) on August 23 to look into appointment of law officers.

“There is no regional disparity in appointment of law officers in High Court,” the ministers said, adding the panel has been asked to look into the lapses, if any, in such appointments.
