Hyderabad, May 04: Andhra Pradesh today decided to permit export of raw rice from the state for a limited period of two months with periodic monitoring of price.
The government also decided to permit export of boiled rice without any conditions, in a step aimed at ensuring minimum support price to farmers on their Rabi produce.
The decisions were taken at a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy here today.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that total production of rice during 2010-11, both in Rabi and Kharif seasons, was expected to be 140.65 lakh tonnes, marking an increase of 32.27 lakh tonnes in 2009-10.
Food Corporation of India, State Civil Supplies Corporation and women self-help groups opened a total of 1187 purchase centres and procured 1,10,620 tonnes of paddy so far.
