AP Govt allots land for NDRF

Hyderabad, Feruary 17:The Andhra Pradesh Government has allotted 50 acre of land last week for establishing National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) unit near Mangalagiri in Guntur District.

Talking to UNI here today, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Vice-Chairman and Congress MLA M Sashidar Reddy said the NDRF, with about 1100 personnel, would commence operations in a year’s time at a permanent building with a infrastructure costing Rs 200-250 crore.

Until then, the NDRF would function in a rental accomodation in the next few months, Mr Reddy said, adding the multi-disciplinary, multi-skilled force was being trained as per the international standards to respond natural and man-made disasters.

He said the personnel would also be fully trained and equipped to meet Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) emergencies.
