AP Gets SC Flak Over Suspension Of YSRCP MLA Roja

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Government received a flak from Supreme Court in the matter of suspension of YSR Congress Party MLA Roja from the State Assembly for one year recently.
It may be mentioned here that the film actor-turned-politician, Roja was suspended for one year following a ruckus in the Assembly during the last winter session. The charge against the YSRCP member was that she had not only behaved in a manner unbecoming of a member of the august House, but also had used derogatory language against the members of the ruling TDP members. A motion was moved in the House by Minister for Finance and Legislature Affairs Yanamala Ramakrishnudu for suspension of the member, which was accepted. Accordingly, Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao suspended the lady member for one year.
As the budget session of the AP Assembly had commenced, Roja moved the Supreme Court against the action of the AP Government. The Consel for Roja also argued before the bench pleading for allowing the petitioner (Roja) to take part in the proceedings of the AP Assembly in the ongoing budget session.
After hearing the arguments, the Supreme Court wondered why no notice was issued to the member before taking action against her. The apex court directed the Chief Justice of High Court of Hyderabad to inquire into the matter on Wednesday and said its directive should be conveyed to the Chief Justice of Hyderabad High Court through an email.
