Hyderabad, July 04: Barring two Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MPs, Mamata Benerjee’s Railway Budget disappointed every one.
People expected that Mamata will reverse the injustice done to the State in the successive Budgets presented by Lalu Prasad Yadav. But, Mamata too followed her predecessor’s line for AP rail projects.
Mamata even turned a deaf ear to the requests of YS Jaganmohan Reddy, son of Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Jagan recently led a delegation of Andhra MPs and requested Mamata to sanction Kadapa- Bangalore line, which will ensure 18 per cent returns.
Much to the displeasure of Hyderabad citizens, there was no mention of MMTS phase-2. However, Municipal Minister A Ramanarayana Reddy admitted that the State did not send a fresh proposal to the Centre and it would be included in the next Budget.
However, TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao’s election promise of doubling of Secunderabad-Mahaboobnagar line was included in the budget. Likewise, survey for Medak- Akkannapet was taken up in the budget as was desired by Vijayashanti.
Though, the two TRS MPs thanked Railway Minister for sanctioning works for their segments, they felt that injustice was done to other parts of the State.
Meanwhile, the South Central Railway has been allocated a budgetary outlay of Rs.3092.90 crore, out of which Rs.185.00 crore is for new railway lines, Rs.131 crore for gauge conversion, Rs.25 crore for doubling of railway lines and Rs.118.53 crore for passenger amenities.
Secunderabad and Tirupati railway stations among 50 stations to be developed as world class railway stations.
Multi-functional complexes to be developed at 50 railway stations, including Hyderabad, Kacheguda and Nanded.
