AP to formulate manual for industrial tours by colleges: Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Government will prepare a manual of guidelines to conduct industrial tours for college students to avert mishaps like the one at VNR Vignanjyoti Engineering College.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu said the government will set up a three member committee to prepare manual of guidelines whose violation by the educational institutions will be treated seriously stringent action taken on them. A two minute silence was observed at the event as a mark of respect to the departed young souls in the tragic accident. In all 24 students who were on an industrial tour had drowned and were washed away in the flash flood at river Beas in Himachal Pradesh on June 8th last.

The Chief Minister was addressing families of the students of the VNR Vignan Engineering College at the secretariat today wherein he disbursed cheques of Rs 5 lakhs to each of the families of the deceased students as token ex gratia from the AP Government.

Chandrababu Naidu said that though he was held up in Guntur due to swearing –in of his government on that day he had directed the union civil aviation minister Sri.Ashok Gajapathi Raju at Delhi to supervise and guide the rescue and relief operations at Simla . Remaining students and also families of deceased students were brought to safety by air only due to intervention of AP Government.

Naidu said he always believed that Telugus all over India and abroad were one and same and his government would always be ready to serve and assist them . β€˜ I want to share your pain and suffering and this ex gratia is just a small token in that direction β€œ.

The Chief Minister said that AP government had always been at fore front in helping out people in distress. His govt had sent relief to people who were affected in the super cyclone of Odisha and even as opposition leader he had sent relief and rescue parties to help people affected in the flash floods at Char Dham in Uttarnachal.
