AP first to connect all police stations online: DGP

Hyderabad, December 30: Director General of Police (DGP) R R Girish Kumar today said Andhra Pradesh had become the first State in the country to connect all the 1,642 police stations and sub-divisions online.

Addressing the press with Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) A K Khan here, he said under the Mandatory Online Data Transfer system, all 1,642 police stations, 167 sub-divisions and 405 Circles, 22 Superintendents of Police and four Commissioners of Police were connected online.

Day-to-day correspondence, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual returns were sent through intra net to the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) and investigating officers could quickly access information regarding background of accused and vehicles through a tool called ‘Third Eye’ on the intranet.

The website, designed by Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police, with public interface had received public acclaim. Regarding Fingerprint Analysis and Criminal Tracing System, he said the department had improved the technical equipment given to fingerprint inspectors and they were able to lift the chance prints from the scene of crime and pass it on to the main server for getting verification report. All the FPB inspectors were given data cards, laptops and other equipments, he added.
