AP finalizes guidelines for accidental insurance to journalists

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Journalists’ Forum (APJF) president Ch. Krishnanjaneyulu has said the Andhra Pradesh State government would implement Accidental Insurance to Journalists from May 1, for which the AP government finalized guidelines on Tuesday.
In a statement here, Ch. Krishnanjaneyulu said the AP government said G.O no 570 on March 11 regarding implementation of accidental insurance to Journalists. He asked all eligible Journalists to apply for accidental insurance from April 1 to 15 in the District Public Relation Officer (DPRO) office in the districts, with organization’s identity card and Rs 200 demand draft (DD). The government would pay 50% of accidental insurance premium.
Under the scheme, the State government would pay Rs 10 lakh if any Journalist died in an accident; if any Journalist was injured seriously, the government will bear medical expenses and pay Rs 5000 every week, up to 104 weeks; if any Journalist died in an accident, the government will pay Rs 10,000 to the deceased children for supporting their education.
