The Andhra Pradesh government here on Wednesday took a decision to conduct its own EAMCET-2015 on May 10.
Speaking to mediapersons at Visakhapatnam, AP Human Resources Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said the State government has decided to conduct the EAMCET examination on its own like the Telangana government. Stating that some 1.65 lakh students would take the examination, he said the JNTUC at Kakinada has been authorized to conduct the examination. While JNTU Kakinada Vice-Chancellor would be the convener, 1.16 lakh seats would be in the convener quota, he added.
Taking a serious exception to the Telangana Government for defying AP Reorganisation Act on conduct of common EAMCET 2015, the Andhra Pradesh Government, after a prolonged dilly-dallying, announced a separate EAMCET 2015 to be conducted on May 10. He also announced that other entrance examinations like ECET would be conducted on May 14, ICET on May 16, PG ECET on May 25, EDCET on May 28 and Law CET – PG CET on May 30.
Srinivasa Rao said Telangana State was not at all a Vatican city and not given a special status. He lambasted the Telangana government for its rigid attitude while clearing the confusion on the controversy-turned Eamcet 2015. The students of the AP can now heave a sigh of relief as the AP Government has clarified with Ganta Srinivasa Rao airing his views on Eamcet 2015 and other examinations at Visakhapatnam.
He reprimanded the Telangana government for stiffly opposing the common EAMCET. “Time and again, we have appealed to the TS Government, sought Governor ESL Narasimhan’s intervention and sought the issue to the Centre but in vain”, he deplored. “This is not right for the TS Government to continue to move in a rigid way as it is the part of India”, he noted. As the TS government failed to cooperate, the AP has to conduct a separate EAMCET, he maintained.
As the two States will be conducting the entrance examinations separately, for the first time the students seeking admission into engineering, agriculture and medical colleges have to appear for two separate tests. While JNTU-Hyderabad will continue to hold the exam in Telangana State, JNTU-Kakinada will conduct it in Andhra Pradesh. (NSS)
