AP cops achieved no. 1 place in country: CM

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy here on Sunday said the State police have the distinction of achieving top place in the country in preserving law and order.

The Chief Minister, Home Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy and Director General of Police V. Dinesh Reddy paid homage to police martyrs at the police martyrs pylon in Goshamahal stadium on the occasion of Police Martyrs Commemoration Day.

Speaking on the occasion, Kiran Kumar Reddy opined that every day was a challenge to the police personnel. The State police was successfully tackling terrorism and left wing extremism efficiently. Besides, other States too were taking our policemen as an inspiration, he said, adding that any small mistake from lower level to officer level policemen would damage the image of the entire Police department.

The Chief Minister announced that Rs 50 crores would be sanctioned for setting up of a special hospital for policemen and Rs 35 crores for carrying out repairs to police quarters. To reduce the work burden on the policemen, police recruitment has been taken up on a large scale. He also assured that his government would increase financial assistance to the families of police martyrs. The State government would take all possible steps for welfare of the policemen. The services of policemen, who laid down their lives in protecting the people and law and order, were not forgettable, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, home minister Sabita Indra Reddy has said people should
recognize the services of policemen and their families who were undergoing several troubles unmindful of their own personal safety, to protect law and order. She said police were risking their lives, so that citizens could sleep in comfort.

Speaking on the occasion, Dinesh Reddy said that subsidized canteen facility would be provided to policemen on par with Army personnel. He requested the Chief Minister to take up construction of new police quarters in the place of old quarters which were in a dilapidated condition. (NSS)
