AP Congress suspends Jagan loyalist

Hyderabad, March 14: The Andhra Pradesh Congress on Monday suspended from the party a YS Jagan Mohan Reddy loyalist who was working against the official Congress candidate in the Legislative Council elections.

K Govardhan Reddy, chairman of Nellore district zilla parishad, was placed under suspension by state party chief D Srinivas.

Responding to his suspension, Govardhan Reddy said he welcomed it.

“I feel Jagan’s YSR Congress Party is the real Congress. I will continue to work for Jagan, who is the son of our late leader YS Rajasekhara Reddy,” he said.

Jagan had earlier said that he would not field any candidates in the Council polls, however, some of his loyalists are reportedly backing candidates at various places.

The state Congress had earlier suspended West Godavari Zilla Parishad Chairman Meka Seshubabu for entering into the fray in the Council elections against party’s official nominee.
