AP Congress denies Jagan group charge over House panel

Hyderabad, March 31: Congress in Andhra Pradesh today rejected the allegations of the Jagan group that it had a tacit understanding with Opposition TDP over constituting a House Committee to look into allegations of irregularities in land allocations for industries in the state. “Even when Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was alive, there were instances of House Committees being appointed.

It is not correct to say that we had an understanding with TDP,” Congress Chief Whip M Bhatti Vikramarka told reporters. State Congress President D Srinivas said the Government has agreed to constitute a House Committee to ensure transparency and ascertain the truth in land allotments. He denied the charge that the House Committee is an attempt to “target” the family of late YSR.

The panel would also look into issues concerning TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. The Congress Government has agreed to appoint a House Committee to look into allegations of irregularities and corruption in land allotments made especially during late YSR regime after the TDP-led Opposition stalled the proceedings in the Assembly for about 10 days.

The Congress MLAs loyal to Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, son of YSR, said the Government had a “match-fixing” with TDP to take on the former Kadapa MP, who quit the party last year. Meanwhile, Srinivas said the party would announce the names of its candidates for Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly by-polls, to be held on May 8, at an appropriate time.
