AP: College authorities refuse to take action, rape victim approaches Police

Andhra Pradesh: Authorities of an engineering college in Krishna District failed to act against three rape-accused students following which the victim student approached Police.

According to the initial reports, the senior engineering accused students spiked the drink of the victim during a party and reportedly raped her. The accused also filmed the act in order to blackmail her, DC reported.

The incident happened in a hotel in February 2017 during a party last year. The two of the accused, Siva Reddy and Krishna Vamsi, had allegedly spiked the drinks and raped her.

According to the Police, the senior students have been harassing and blackmailing her ever since the incident.

They also sought sexual favours from the victim said the Police.

The college authorities in Agiripalli in Krishna district refused to take action against the accused and instead asked them to delete the video and apologise to the victim.

The Police said the third accused had been blackmailing the girl from the last two months demanding favours from her by threatening to make the video public.

“The girl finished her course a couple of months ago. However, another classmate, D Praveen, started blackmailing her asking for sexual favours, saying that he possessed a copy of the video and would upload it on websites if she did not comply. The girl informed this to her father, who in turn lodged a complaint,” police said.

The police have charged the senior engineering students with gangrape, and also under the IT Act for filming the crime and using it to blackmail her.

Further investigation is underway said the police.
