AP cannot take unilateral decision on Telangana issue: Rosaiah

Chennai, May 03: The Andhra Pradesh Government could not take any unilateral decision on the Telangana issue, Chief Minister K Rosaiah said today.

In a brief chat with reporters at the airport here on his arrival from Nellore en route to Visakhapatnam, he said the Centre had constituted a committee.

”The committee is seized of the issue and it will submit its report to the Central Government,” he said.

It was for the Central Government to take a decision, he said, adding, the state could not take a decision on its own. Asked whether his government had any plans to hold talks with Naxalites, Mr Rosaiah said there was no such proposals.

On Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s remarks calling for Centre’s intervention on inter-state river issues with the neighbouring states, Mr Rosaiah said such issues were not new.

”It has been there for several years. Such issues has to be resolved through talks,” he added.
