AP Became Role Model in the Country in Energy Conservation–Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said in an open letter to the  people on Saturday that they  made a good beginning with  enhanced use of LED bulbs on Gandhi Jayanti  day, on October 2nd,2014  which  has  revolutionized the power  sector and transformed into a peoples movement  now and elevated  the State to top position in the national campaign  for power conservation.

 

‘Not restricting the movement to just use of LED bulbs we have now enhanced the potential of power conservation and environment protection to many other innovative strategies. We have earned global applause by installing LED bulbs in street lighting  system of the coastal city of  Visakhapatnam, which had gone dark  for days after HudHud cyclone impact… AP has spearheaded the LED revolution in India by creating huge demand of around 2 Crore Bulbs’, he said in the open letter which has been issued by  Ajay Jain, Prl. Secretary (Energy, I&I, CRDA).

 

The Chief Minister said they  have distributed 1.9 Crore LED bulbs so far in 13 Districts of AP within a short span of one and half year, thus created flutters worldwide among the International agencies working on Energy conservation and Climate Change. AP has been touted to be the leading state in the World in implementing Energy Efficiency measures. Everywhere including the COP 21 summit held in Paris in 2016, AP’s LED revolution found place in the Global arena.     The expected annual reduction of energy out of 1.9 Cr LED Bulbs distributed so far is around 1400 Million Units and around 500 MW of avoided capacity. This quantum of reduction in energy usage results in avoiding of emission of One  Million Tones of Carbon Dioxide gas into the environment every year.

 

By achieving new mile stones in use of LED bulbs AP has become a role model state in the country in energy conservation campaigns, he added. (NSS)
