The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly has turned into a venue for challenges and counter challenges on the fourth day of the first session.
Speaking in the House, TDP MLA Dulipala Narendra asked whether YSR Congress Party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is a heir for the scams of his father late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. He also questioned as to why senior IAS officer Srilaxmi was sent to jail.
Strongly objecting to the TDP member’s queries, Jaganmohan Reddy said the TDP was levelling baseless allegations against Y S Rajasekhara Reddy government. “Truth would come out if passport of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was verified as how many times the latter went to Singapore. He alleged that mining scamster Gali Janardhan Reddy met Chandrababu Naidu several times in Singalore. TDP member Kalva Srinivas Reddy also accompanied Gali Janardhan Reddy, he added. Jagan challenged Kalva Srinivas Reddy whether he would resign from his MLA post if the YSRCP prove the allegation. “It was not proper to target Rajasekhara Reddy five years after his death and trying to tarnish his image. After Rajasekhara Reddy’s death, other chief ministers also ruled the State for five years.”, he added.
Suggesting that the ruling party members confine to talking on the Governor’s speech, Jaganmohan Reddy said the TDP government should reveal in the House how it would implement its poll promise of waiver of farmers’ loans and instill confidence in the farmers’ community.
As Narendra continued his tirade against Rajasekhara Reddy, the Leader of Opposition took strong objection saying, “How can the TDP member mention the name of a late leader without giving notice and getting Speaker’s permission? The people in the State are watching the behavior of the members in the House”, he warned. (NSS)
