The Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly paid rich tributes to former president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
As soon as the House assembled on Monday, a resolution was moved expressing condolence over the demise of Dr. Kalam. Speaking on the resolution, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described Dr. Kalam’s death as a major loss to the entire country. Describing him as an unending source of inspiration for the youth of the country, Naidu said everyone should strive hard to fulfill the dreams of Dr. Kalam.
The Chief Minister also announced that the IIIT at Ongole would be named after Dr. Kalam. Further, an award would be instituted and would be given to three bright students of AP every year. He said a status of Dr. Kalam would be installed in the Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur.
Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy described Dr. Kalam as a great personality who won the hearts of billions of people across the world with his simplicity. He said that after relinquishing the President’s post, Dr. Kalam took to teaching to inspire the youth. He reminded that Kalam passed away while addressing the students.
BJP MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju said Dr. Kalam held doctorates from as many as 46 universities in the world.
