Hyderabad, February 19: The Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned thrice as the Opposition members stalled the proceedings over the Fertilisers issue today.
The trouble started when the House assembled for the day, as Speaker N Kirankumar Reddy disallowed the adjournment motions given notice of by the TDP and CPI(M) on the hike in price of fertilisers announced by the Centre yesterday.
Immediately, agitated opposition members were on their feet demanding that the listed Business of the House be set aside and an immediate discussion be taken up on the fertilisers price hike issue.
The Speaker maintained that the House could not discuss on a decision taken by the Centre.
As the opposition members continued to remain on their feet, the Speaker announced adjournemnt of the House for ten minutes.
When the House reassembled, Chief Minister K Rosaiah, making a brief statement shared the concern expressed by the opposition members and assured the House that he would write to the Centre as the hike would badly hit the farmers. Following this, the House took up the regular business.
Opposition members again disrupted the House demanding a House committee probe into the alleged misuse of fertilisers and seeds supplied by the MARKFED in Kadapa district.
Even as Agriculture Minister N Raghuveera Reddy agreed to conduct an official probe into the alleged misuse, the opposition members were on their feet pressing for a probe by the House committee.
After repeated appeals to the opposition members by Deputy Speaker N Manohar, who was in the chair, adjourned the House for another ten minutes.
When the House reassembled the opposition members continued to disrupt the proceedings by raising slogans against the Government. The Deputy Speaker then announced that all the questions were deemed to have been answered and adjourned the House for another fifteen minutes.
