The Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for 30 minutes by Speaker Nadendla Manohar as the TRS members trooped into the well and raised slogans by carrying placards to introduce a resolution on the Telangana statehood.
As soon as the House assembled for the day, Mr Manohar announced of disallowing the adjournment motions given by TRS, BJP and CPI on a resolution in the House for separate statehood and the CPI(M) for a discussion on the need to improve the health services by solving the problems of 104 service employees.
Resenting on the rejection of their adjournment motions, the TRS members raised slogans at the podium while the BJP and CPI had protested from their seats.
At this stage, the Speaker told the agitating members that once the adjournment motions on the same issue were disallowed they cannot be taken up again.
‘I have been repeatedly asking you to cooperate with the chair to allow the running of the business listed for the day and announced to take up the question hour.’ However, the TRS members raised ‘Jai Telangana’ slogans and demanded the Ministers and MLAs from Telangana region to respond and support their protest.
Mr Manohar once again appealed to the members to resume their seats.
The TRS members then asked the Speaker to get an assurance from the government on when they would introduce the resolution in the House.
They also said the UPA government has promised to Telangana people a separate state andd this should be honoured.
With no assurance from the Chair, the TRS members continued their protest.
As the noisy scenes continued, Mr Manohar adjourned the house for 30 minutes at 0910 hours.
The Opposition TDP boycotted the question hour in protest against the Speaker’s alleged partsian attitude in not allowing a discussion on the liquor syndicate issue.
However, TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu announced that his party will cooperate while presenting the state budget in the House at 1210 hours.
Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet had met this morning at Assembly Committee Hall and approved the Budget.
