The Legislative Assembly on Thursday adjourned sine die after passing the Andhra Pradesh Appropriation (Vote-on-Account) Bill-2014. The Rs 1,83,129-crore vote-on-account bill was passed by the Assembly without debate even though the House sat for four days for the purpose.
Soon after the House met at 10 am today, Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar disallowed the adjournment motions tabled by the Opposition parties. At the same time, the TRS, Congress and TDP legislators from Telangana stormed the podium and raised “Jai Telangana” slogans. When the Speaker’s request to the agitating members to go back to their seats was not heeded, the Speaker adjourned the House for an hour.
After the House reconvened at 12.50 pm, the House witnessed noisy scenes again as the TRS members rushed to the podium and raised slogans. The TRS members displayed placards “Good Bye to AP Assembly—Welcome to Telangana Assembly”. Amid slogan shouting, Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayan Reddy introduced Andhra Pradesh Appropriation (Vote-on-account) Bill in the House. Later, the Speaker announced that the Andhra Pradesh Appropriation (Vote-on-account) Bill has been passed by the Assembly.
At 12.54 pm, the Speaker thanked the members for their cooperation in running the House and adjourned the House sine die. (NSS)
