Hyderabad: AP Haj Committee has agreed to share expenses on Haj pilgrims. A meeting of the officials of Haj Committees of AP and Telangana would be held soon to resolve this issue.
Mr. Praveen Kumar, Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare, A.P. contacted Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare, Telangana State and said that Govt. of A.P. will share expenses proportionately on the arrangements for Haj pilgrims in Haj House.
Last year, AP Haj Committee paid nearly Rs. 30 lakh which includes the expenses of Haj pilgrims for their stay in Haj House and the arrangements made to supply food to them. This year, A.P. Haj Committee has decided to accommodate their Haj pilgrims in private hotels and refused to pay the expenses to Telangana Haj Committee.
TDP MLC, Mr. Ahmed Shareef intervened to resolve this issue and he contacted Prof. S.A. Shukoor, Special Officer of Telangana Haj Committee and proposed to hold a meeting of the officials of both the Haj Committees. This meeting will be held within three days which will be attended by the secretaries of the Dept. of Minorities Welfare and the officials of both the Haj Committees. It is expected that an agreement would be arrived at regarding the payment of expenses.
The issue of accommodating AP Haj pilgrims in hotels may also crop up during the discussions in the wake of the instructions given by Govt. of India for making proper security arrangements.
It may be mentioned that this year, nearly 8000 Haj pilgrims will start their journey from Hyderabad Airport which includes nearly 3800 Haj pilgrims from Telangana and 2800 Haj pilgrims from AP. Haj flights will start on 13th August and end on 22nd August. In all, there will be 14 flights.
