NEW DELHI: Influential Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband on Saturday issued a new ‘fatwa’ (edict) referring to Muslim women who performed ‘aarti’ on the eve of Diwali in Varanasi.
The seminary issued the fatwa pronouncing men and women can no longer be considered ‘Muslim-Ulema’ if they worship any other God than Allah.
“If worships any god except Allah they don’t remain Muslim-Ulema,” a representative for the Islamic seminary told news agency ANI.
