Anybody welcome to campaign against us: Salman Khurshid

New Delhi, October 19: Law Minister Salman Khurshid on Tuesday condemned the attack on Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal, saying that it was completely unacceptable. Speaking to IBN18 Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai, Khurshid said, “In a democracy, everyone has the right to express their views and it’s wrong to attack them like that. There is something unwholesome happening around us.”

However, he also said that while addressing public meetings, one should be careful about the words they use. “Each one of us has to be careful while addressing public debates. We have to be very careful about the choice of words and the manner of speaking,” he said.

When asked if there can be a political party involved in the attack, Khurshid said, “I don’t think a serious political party will get involved in such acts.”

Speaking on whether Team Anna deserves protection, Khurshid said, “It’s a double edged sword, if we give them protection, people will think we are trying to curtail them.”

Reacting on Team Anna’s anti-Congress campaign in the Hisar by-poll, Khurshid said, “Any body is welcome to campaign against us.”

Speaking on the Lokpal Bill, Khurshid said that the government is committed and will try its best to get the bill passed by the winter session of Parliament. “We are as reasonable and trying to move forward on the Lokpal Bill. We are confident that we will be able to push it through,” he said.
