Antony lauds Thangal’s commitment to communal amity

Malappuram, August 18: Defence Minister A K Antony today said Indian Union Muslim League leader Panakkad Sayid Muhammadali Shihab Thangal, who died recently, was a leader who unceasingly worked for communal harmony and social peace.

“Thangal was a great humanist who considered harmony in the society as far more important than party politics,’ he said adressing a meeting to pay homage to the late leader organised by the Press Club here.

He said the role played by Thangal in preserving the secular fabric of Kerala society intact in the days that followed the Babri Masjid demolition was concrete proof of his unflinching commitment to communal amity
