Anti-Jagan camp pulls off coup

Hyderabad, November 02: The camp opposed to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has pulled off yet another coup against him by securing green signal from party president Sonia Gandhi for roping in Praja Rajyam chief Chiranjeevi for the GHMC elections.

According to sources, by getting the green signal from the party high command for an alliance with the megastar, the anti-Jagan camp has dealt a blow to the attempts that are being made to revive the Jagan- for-CM campaign as, at present even the Kapus who have a soft corner for Jagan Mohan Reddy, would not be in a position to come out openly in favour of their leader.

Sources said the seeds of further sidelining Jagan Mohan Reddy were sown in Delhi when Panchayat Raj Minister B Satyanarayana conferred with Sonia Gandhi’s political affairs advisor Ahmed Patel in Delhi. Later, Irrigation Minister P Lakshmiah, TTD chiarman DK Adikeshavulu Naidu, Rajya Sabha members K Keshava Rao and V Hanumantha Rao also persuaded Ahemad Patel to secure Sonia Gandhi’s approval for forging an allinace with PRP.

The development has come as a shock to Jagan Mohan Reddy’s loyalists who are finding it difficult to sustain the movement. Though Women and Child Welfare Minsiter K Surekha left Rosaiah’s cabinet three days ago, the tempo her action had created is not likely to sustain further. In her own words in an interview with a news channel, several ministers who were loyal to Jagan Mohan Reddy are not very keen anymore and are finding Rosaiah’s company quite comforting.

According to one Jagan Mohan Reddy’s loyalist, the decision to forge the alliance with Chiranjeevi was quite unexpected and since it had the clearance from none other than Sonia Gandhi herself, they could do nothing about it. This new alliacne, Jagan Mohan Reddy’s loyalists are afraid, would further marginalise their leader’s role in the state politics and make Jagan lose support of kapus among them who might not go against party’s decision and stay with Jagan Mohan Reddy at a time when a leader of thier own caste is raring to take a plunge in the electioneering.
