New Delhi: Ever since, the Modi Govt. came into power in 2014, charges of intervention in the freedom of media are being leveled against it.
Some of the journalist told that they are being threatened for criticizing the intent of the Govt.
According to a report published by Reuter, Govt. has stopped releasing advertisements to three major newspapers which include Times of India, Economic Times and The Hindu.
It may be mentioned that the readership of these newspapers exceeds 2.6 crore. It is being said that The Hindu had exposed the alleged intervention of PMO in Rafale Deal.
Opposition leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, Mr. Adhir Ranjan Choudhary told that Govt. is making an attempt to suppress media reports which are going against it. On the other hand, BJP Spokesman, Mr. Nalin Kohli told that press is independent in India. He also said that it is ridiculous to blame the Govt. that it is putting a ban on freedom of press.
