Kigwema (Nagaland), September 19: Vice-President Hamid Ansari today lauded effective functioning of Village Development Boards in Nagaland, saying such organised structure could be a model for the rest of the country.
On the second day of his maiden visit to the state, Ansari visited this Angami Naga village, 20 km south of Kohima, and interacted with locals at the village council hall to know about the functioning of the administration there.
After hearing various reports presented by different village committees on education, health, sanitation and other physical infrastructure, the Vice-President said such innovative ideas could be borrowed and improved upon by others.
Earlier, accompanied by his wife Salma Ansari, Ansari visited the historic Kohima World War Cemetery.
