On board PM’s spl. flight, September 26: It was not the first occasion when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who has always avoided pomp and show in his birthday celebrations and gives preference to his duties, celebrated his birthday amidst the mediapersons. Mr. Singh celebrated his 79th birthday on his special flight along with the mediapersons while returning home after addressing at United Nations General Assembly.
Prime Minister cut his birthday cake prompted by Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, managing editor Siasat daily Hyderabad and the media persons gave him warm wishes amid joyous atmosphere.
Prime minister avoided any kind of political press conference on the occasion. Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan presented a piece of birthday cake to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. After a hectic programme the celebration came as a relaxation. Prime minister too seemed fresh and happy, though a new controversy awaits him back home as there are charges against him for being involved in 2G scam. In New York also the media persons asked him regarding appositions demand for Chidambaram’s resignation on which he answered ‘there’s nothing new in it, opposition does it always’.
