Myanmar national Khaleed Mohammed,who was detained in connection to Burdwan Blast Case has been set free by National Investigation Agency for lack of evidence.
Khalid was arrested from Hyderabad camp on 17th November 2014 from Royal Colony Balapur, Hyderabad from the relief for his alleged involvement and was shifted to Kolkata where he was remanded in Judicial Custody.
NIA, at the time of his arrest claimed that Khalid was involved in Brudwan Blast case which took place in West Bengal on 2nd October 2014.
The allegations by NIA that he played a key role in terrorist activities on the border of Bangladesh and Maynama and had links with Taliban in Pakistan fall flat before the court and no proof of his participation in these cases was found.
According to sources, NIA had also alleged ‘Khalid is an expert in manufacturing Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) as well as recruitment and was helping the JMB organise terror modules in India.
“He has admitted to having undergone training conducted by Tehreek-e-Azadi-Arakan with trainers from Tehreek-e-Taliban, Pakistan,” an NIA official said . (Hindustan Times, Nov 19, 2014).
Khalid Mohammed is the second Brudwan Blast Case accused who had been found not guilty by the court. Previously Badar Alam Maula a Myanmar citizen had been acquitted by the court.
