Another FIR registered against Arnab Goswami for assaulting lady cop

Mumbai: FIR registered against TV Editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami for allegedly assaulting a lady police officer when police team reached his residence in Mumbai this morning.

The FIR has been registered under Sections 353 (assault to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

The Police has also booked Goswami’s wife and his son for obstructing the Police officers from performing their duty, under Section 353 of IPC.

Two unknown persons, a man and a woman have also been booked in the matter.

The Mumbai Police had arrested Goswami this morning, for allegedly abetting suicide of a 53-year-old interior designer. He was taken to the Raigad police station. The case was closed earlier due to lack of evidence but it has now been re-opened.

As per the videos shared by visual media, the cops entered Goswami’s residence and took him into custody, after a tussle. Goswami had claimed that the police assaulted him physically.

However, as per the fresh FIR that has been registered by the Mumbai Police, a woman police official namely Sujata Tanvade claimed that Goswami had assaulted him during the morning arrest.

So far as Goswami’s wife is concerned, the Police has claimed that she tore the intimation regarding Goswami’s arrest.

The police are carrying out further investigation in the case.
