Another critic of Saudi Crown Prince faces potential threat

İyad el-Baghdadi a prominent Arab activist who is living in the country under asylum protection is facing a potential threat from Saudi Arabia. US agency CIA has warned Norway about the threat.

İyad el-Baghdadi is said to be a vocal critic of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. As reported by the Guardian, on 25 April, Norwegian authorities arrived at El-Baghdadi doorstep, took him to a secure location, and warned him he was in possible danger from an unspecified threat emanating from the kingdom.

The Guardian has quoted El-Baghdadi as saying: “The way I understood it was, the Saudis have a crosshairs on me, but there is no idea of what they are going to do.”

A Palestinian-born writer, El-Baghdadi, is active on Twitter. He has tens of thousands of Twitter followers. He took political asylum in Norway in 2015, after he was arrested and expelled from the UAE. Since then, he has been criticising the Saudi crown prince.
