Another boy falls in open nala, injured

Open nalas and manholes have become a nuisance for the residents of Bilalnagar, Kalapathar. At least 11 manholes are open and open nalas flow at 17 places in this Muslim predominant area.

It must be recalled that on May 6, 5 year old Mohamed Atif died after falling in the open manhole. But it seems that the GHMC did not learn a lesson from the horrible incident and its officials continued criminal negligence towards their duty.

Consequently another boy Mohammed Shahbaz son of Mohammed Ishaq fell into the open nala near his house on May 16 and suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital after which he was shifted to Osmania hospital on the advice of doctors. Mohammed Shahbaz is 6 years old and is the student of II class in Javeed Mission Schools.

Local people on the condition of anonymity told that manholes and nalas remained open in the area for the past 4 years. It has been learnt from the reliable sources that there’s a buzz among the residents that anyone who makes the media aware of the municipal problems of the area will face dire consequences. Hence the residents of the area are scared to report the grievances despite their ire on GHMC.
