Another bomb scare in New York

New York, May 14: Police are investigating a suspicious car near New York City’s Union Square.

The car was spotted on Thursday night not far from the Union Square subway station, where several lines connect.

The vehicle, parked near the intersection of 15th Street and Irving Place directly in front of the headquarters of the electric utility Con Edison, had what appeared to be two gas canisters visible in the rear of the car, said.

The area has been blocked off. The bomb squad and Emergency Service Unit are investigating.

The Fire Department (NYFD) reported no radiation had been measured in the area, the news service Breaking News Network reported, based on its monitoring of police scanners.

The report said several gas cans had been identified on the rear seat of the vehicle.
