The Karnataka Police arrested Nayeem Siddique, an MBBS doctor from Basaveshwarangar, Bangalore on suspected terror links, taking the total number of such arrests in the past five days to 14.
Police alleged that he has been providing logistical and financial support to other suspects. A laptop, one mobile phone and 10,000 cash were seized from the house. The police alleged that Siddique played the role of a “recruiter” for the terror network. “If you look at the profile of those arrested in the last one week, all of them are well- educated and hail from good families. We believe that Siddique was recruiting educated persons for his local network,” the officer said.
Siddique was remanded in judicial custody for interrogation by a local judge.
