A Great Entertainment Night was presented by Urdu Hindi Cultural Association of New Zealand A great annual Mushaira Kavi Sammelan and Ghazal night was organised by Urdu Hindi Cultural Association of New Zealand on 24th May at Fickling Convention Centre Auckland.
The programme started at 6.30 with a tribute and condolence to Rana Farhat Malik by Anne Pala of Waitakere Ethnic Council and a two minutes silence was observed to pay respect to her. Roopa Suchdev, Vice President was the master of ceremony of the evening. Mr Ghouse Majeed and Syed Mujeeb were the main organisors of the night. Mr Nafis Akhtar JP, President of the association welcomed the guests. The chief guests of the night were Hon Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi MP and Dr Anwar Ghani President Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand . Professor Dr Asad Mohsin of Waikato University was Sadr-e-Mushaira.
Syed Mujeeb QSM presented the annual report of the association. Hon Kanwaljit Singh paid tribute to Farhat Malik and emphasised that government has zero tolerance for domestic violence. He also said that it is our responsibility of each one of us to report it to the police if we witnessed any sort of violence in the community or in the neighbourhood. Dr Anwar Ghani, President of FIANZ was impressed to see the Mushaira at a very grand scale. He said that we need to protect our languages and preserve our culture and heritage and Mushaira is a part of it. He also said in his statement that people will value and respect those who preserve their languages and so as culture. Sadre Mushaira Dr Asad Mohsin appreciated the organizers for conducting such a beautiful night in the western countries to make awareness for the future generation to restore our culture, heritage and languages. The third edition of the annual Magazine “DHANAK” was also launched by Dr Asad Mohsin. The Mushaira and Kavi Sammelan was well presented by Farha Rais Alvi. A well known Pakistani poet Janab Shafi Haider Siddiqui Syed Mujeeb Ghouse Majeed Sangat Singh Somnath GuptaSuman Kapoor Shiv Bhagirath Bal Madan Harjeet Singh anf Rajen Bakshi presented their poetries which were much apprecited by the audience.
The Ghazal night was well presented by Roopa Suchdev. Parabh Saran Singh Shbha Pathak Pankaj Arora Kanika Dash Baljeet Kaur Kiranjit Singh Yash Yamani and Priya Kaushik presented beautiful Ghazals. The program continued upto 11.30 pm and the audience enjoyed it thoroughly. Dharmesh Parekh was incharge of the sound system.
