Announce London as the capital of America, Ex-Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson advises Palestine

London: In response to President Trump recognising Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, Jeremy Clarkson, an English broadcaster, journalist and writer has advised Palestinians to announce that London is the capital of the United States.

Jeremy Clarkson is best known for co-presenting the BBC TV show Top Gear.

The message was written by the star on Twitter on Thursday after Donald Trump’s controversial announcement. He tweeted that

‘Palestinians: why not announce that as far as you’re concerned, the capital of America is London.’

US President Donald Trump broke with decades of US foreign policy and international consensus by officially recognising Jerusalem – a city claimed by both Israel and Palestine – as the capital of the Jewish state. This has sparked anger in the Middle East and also among the International community.

The International community has unanimously disagreed with Trump’s decision but reports suggest that the announcement was done with the pre-agreement of Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia had also proposed to the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to accept Abu Dis, a village on the outskirts of Jerusalem as the new capital of Jerusalem.

Notices were sent to the media by the Saudi Royal Court to limit the airtime opposing Trump’s decision.
